RAGDOLL THERAPY

Ragdoll Therapy is a fully clothed bodywork session performed on a massage table or on a soft but firm floor surface. It treats the whole body by specifically targeting the nervous system which in turn  affects all other systems. It's powerful in its simplicity and vast in application. It was devised and refined by Shayne Jarvis over years of dedication to bodywork and learning from client situations. It's strongly influenced by Ka huna massage and Hawaiian principles of bodywork though a stand alone unique technique.

We are holistic complex beings, Ragdoll Therapy works with and benefits all parts of us. Ragdoll Therapy is a physical bodywork that involves touch and movement so is primarily understood though the language of the physical but all parts of us can and do apply. Ragdoll Therapy has 3 main phases in application. The three phases are letting go, usage and multiplicity. All three phases have integrative feeling phases along the way and generally each session ends with a passive phase to feel the benefits and an active phase of noticing the differences in movement.

Here is a long but by no means comprehensive list of benefits that have been experienced though  Ragdoll Therapy. Freeing of joints, effective brain body communication, greater control of body, flexibility, cleansing and detoxing, tension release, softening of tissues surrounding joints, increased mobility, deeper sleep, clearer more interesting dreams, clearer thoughts, calmer emotions, increased emotional freedom and sensitivity, greater connection with purpose, increased relatedness to others, injury disappearance, congenital deformity changes, more functional organs, greater engagement of and with body, strength building, deterrence of unhealthy adhesive muscle recruitment, increased aliveness, greater presence to body and life, fun, zest for life, body mastery, ignited passion and homeostasis.

There are many more benefits already experienced and an unlimited scope of others possible as it treats the whole system and all parts of us are interrelated. Feel free to ask us more.

Ragdoll Therapy can and does work with trauma and other interpersonal issues that may be affecting the health of the body and well being. It does this indirectly as part of the process of the simple physical application or at times simultaneously conversationally.

RAGDOLL QUESTIONS

How long is a Ragdoll Session?

A session will vary depending on client needs, though are currently structured at 50 minute and 80 minute sessions.  80  minutes is recommend as a first session.

How many might be needed?

If you are coming for symptom based reasons (injuries or pain) then most symptoms are alleviated in one session. In some cases obviously this can take longer. We will only continue to work with you if we honestly feel that progress can be made.

Sessions can also be for maintenance and mastery of the body in which case a program can be devised or simply take casual sessions at will.

How does it work?

It works via combinations of both the client and practitioner moving, pressing and stretching the clients body in such a way as to consciously activate and de-activate muscles and tissues so the body unconsciously has its full range of neural action availble. Too complicated? We move your limbs and body around and you learn to let go and use your muscles better. It's the nervous system that controls all that and you can control it - and the rest of your body too - with a little application.

Can it help with Injuries?

Yes, its excellent for short and long term injuries.

What are its origins?

Ragdoll Therapy was developed and devised by Shayne. It would not exist without Mette Sornesen and Ka Huna Massage which she taught to Shayne and in which he has taught for her for 20 years now also. It has strong influences from Ka Huna Massage and its ancient Hawaiian Principles but is stand alone and unique. It has grown with the help of many creative individuals and clients needs along the way of practicing and teaching bodywork and natural health approaches particularly Ka Huna Massage. Although Shayne has been using and practicing it for well over 15 years it will be officially released in May 2019. It will continue to evolve even though the foundation is complete.

What qualifications will the practitioner have?

All practitioners are and will be properly trained to the high standards and expectations of Ragdoll Therapy. Shayne himself has over 20 years experience in Bodywork, Anatomy and Facilitation. Feel free to contact us about specifics of the training, experience and qualifications Shayne or any of our practitioners have.

Is there practitioner or teacher training?

There will be practitioner training as soon as practitioners are ready. Teacher training to teach practitioners is planned also. Contact us to express interest if you are interested.
